Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA San Andreas – The Definitive Edition are leaving PlayStation Plus next month. Gamers who have had a PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium since May have been able to play the the epic western and controversial remaster without owning the games.
This is not surprising. Previously, GTA Vice City Definitive Edition and Red Dead 2 were in PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers for 6 months. Red Dead Redemption 2 has been in and out of PS+ and Xbox Game Pass occasionally.
Perhaps the PS4/PS5 version of Red Dead Redemption will come to PS+ one day? Though it is part of GTA+ so Rockstar may not want to put a more recent title in another service. The GTA Trilogy is also in GTA+ but that is three games rather than just one
According to Push Square who spotted both Rockstar Games titles on the “Last chance to play” page part of the PlayStation Store, you have until November 18th to play the game with your subscription. They join the list of 16 other games exiting PlayStation’s catalog ahead of Christmas.
It will be interesting to see if this causes a big drop in Red Dead 2 downloads on PlayStation. For a few months this year, it has been the first or second most downloaded PS4 game. Past months saw it drop a little but it may slip further if not part of PS+.
