GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 lost steam during September. It fought new blockbuster games and its place as the best selling game in Europe in the previous month. Sony and UK & Europe chart data has just been released showing where Rockstar’s titles such as GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 placed in September.
GTA V drops in PS5 chart
PlayStation have shared their monthly game charts on PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P games for September this week. GTA V was the second most downloaded game in August for Europe. Last month saw it drop to 6th place. It occupied 7th place in the US and Canada chart. This is down from 4th a month prior.
As for the PS4 charts, it moved down a few places here too. It came in 6th position in both the USA/Canada and Europe chart. This is down from 4th and 5th respectively.
Red Dead Redemption 2 goes up a bit
Red Dead Redemption 2 went from 8th place in the PS4 EU charts to 5th position. Then for the past three months it has been in 4th place for the USA.
GTA V loses places in disc and digital sales
The monthly UK games charts are also in for September. According to the data given out by GSD via gamesindustry.biz, GTA V was the 7th best selling game in the region after being the best selling last month. This all disc and digital sales combined. September saw the launch of EA Sports FC 25, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and other new games recently came out.
Once again, a similar story can be found in the monthly digital and physical charts for Europe. As reported by gamesindustry.biz, GTA V was the 7th best selling game across Europe in September. This is down from 2nd place in August.
Despite a drop here and there, GTA V was still the most watched game in livestreams in the previous quarter. It might be 11 years old but it still has a large online audience that enjoys consuming livestreams and other content around it.
It will be interesting to see where GTA V lands once October is over and it has had a month of Halloween themed events and content. Plus, Red Dead Redemption launches on PC on October 29th.
