As Rockstar Games turns Miami into Vice City for GTA 6, a ton of speculation over a potential live action trailer has spread across social media.
Off the back of the Vice City blimp, ads, building signage and more, filming crews were spotted in downtown Miami in the past few days.
Camera were mounted onto vehicles and were filming various West Coast Customs vehicles that have been made to look like GTA VI cars. Cameras got rolling on the real life Ocean Drive inspiration on Monday night. This had fans under the impression Rockstar were filming a live action GTA VI trailer just one month away from launch. That is seemingly no longer the case.
As spotted by @smallo92, filming permits in Miami handed out for the past week do not include Rockstar Games. This week’s permit does not include them either. However, there is one for 305 Films. The filming is specifically noted for “Social media for MH Vice”.
MH stands for Miami Heat. As we know, they are doing a “Night in Vice City” event on the eve of Grand Theft Auto VI’s release. This production is likely for a promo video to advertise the matchday event and/or shown inside the Vice City-branded Kaseya Center before kick-off.
Whilst some fans will be incredibly disappointed Rockstar are not filming a live action GTA VI trailer, it is not something Rockstar do for their games compared to other publishers. That said, the video will look great regardless and all of this promo for the game is fantastic. The heat has really been turned up after several lacklustre months.
In other news, an extended/alternative version of the GTA VI trailer has been released. Learn more here.
