Since Red Dead Redemption 2 landed on PC in late 2019, the modding community continues to deliver amazing mods to transform the frontier experience to enhance the game with lots of quality of life changes. As new tools from mod developers release, new mods are being uploaded at a hugely fast rate across a community-driven site, RDR2Mods and Nexus Mods.
While we wait for OpenIV to support archive editing for the game files, fairly recently LMS, tool and mod developer, released Lenny’s Mod Loader, enabling all mod developers to modify the game files for the first ever time. As it has released the modding community has been super busy creating mods from new character outfits, character improvements, QoL changes and much more.
We’ve picked one of the best mods available to download right now across RDR2Mods and Nexus Mods – it should be noted most mods will require ScriptHookRDR and Lenny’s Mod Loader, which are super easy to install!
John Marston Restoration Project by GuiCORLEONEx794
John Marston’s playable character in the game’s story epilogue was not received quite well by fans of the original Red Dead Redemption due to John’s appearance and all sorts of odd bugs affecting his gloves and customization features.
Mod developer, GuiCORLEONEx794 developed an awesome mod “John Marston Restoration Project” to further enhance John’s appearance closer to the original game from 2010 with restored cut features such as John’s original hairstyle, seemingly cut from the game alongside cut outfits and fixes to his character.
You can grab the mod right now at Nexus Mods.
Bank Robberies by Unlosing & JediJosh920
I always find it quite odd why Rockstar never decided to include bank robberies outside of story missions but thankfully mod developers Unlosing and JediJosh920 published a mod to enable players to rob banks across towns in freeroam! Simply aim your weapon at the Bank Teller at any time to force them to open the vault door.
Both developers have co-published the mod at Nexus Mods.
Red Dead Offline by LMS, Senexis & Bolmin
Red Dead Offline aims to forward all Red Dead Online weapons and other items to the single-player mode, all seamlessly without requiring a mod menu. The mod features some of the online exclusive content inside the catalogues across gunsmith stores – the mod even enables players to customize the online weapons in the single-player, the mod is really that deep!
The mod developers state they plan on expanding the mod in the future so keep an eye out for future updates.
The mod is available for download now at RDR2Mods.
Open All Interiors by Kostas96b
There’s a bunch of interiors included with the story missions which are cannot be accessed in freeroam – Open All Interiors opens up Angelo Bronte’s Mansion in Saint Denis, the Braithwaite Manor and including Red Dead Online’s Moonshine Shack interior in freeroam without any locked doors so you can freely enter them at any time you want.
The mod is available for download at Nexus Mods.
RDR First Response
The amazing developers behind the LSPDFR mod for GTAV have super busy working on RDR First Response for Red Dead Redemption 2 – RDRFR enables players to join the lawmen workforce to tackle crimes and track down outlaws across the frontier with a vast array of features to respond to NPC reports and crime investigations.
The first version of the mod is available right now at RDR2Mods.com
