Rockstar Games appear to be preparing access to their Nintendo Switch titles with a GTA+ membership. This will add to the growing list of perks for the service as Rockstar look to continue its growth.
GTA Online‘s subscription service offers full access to several Rockstar Games titles as one of its many benefits. The full list currently is Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, Liberty City Stories, Chinatown Wars, Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire. Bully is also confirmed to join the service at some point this year.
The GTA+ webpage has a carousel of the titles included in the service along with logos for the platforms they are on. For example, the GTA Trilogy currently is on Xbox and PlayStation, Liberty City Stories and Chinatown Wars are on Android and iOS. Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire are both on Xbox and PlayStation. You can see an image of what it currently looks like below.
However, Rockstar insider Tez2 noticed the the GTA+ webpage backend updated to include the Nintendo Switch logo for select games. Rockstar Games have three titles on the Nintendo Switch: Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.
All three of these games have the Nintendo Switch logo next to the PlayStation and Xbox logos in the non-public version of the webpage. This suggests Rockstar Games will soon allow players to download the Switch versions of these games if they have an active GTA+ membership. Below is an image from Tez2 showing the updated GTA+ page.
How will it work?
Some players are confused how this will work as these titles cost money to download on the Nintendo eShop. It is possible Rockstar will launch “free” versions of these games, so a new product listing for the exact same game that anyone can download.
Once downloaded, you’ll sign into your Rockstar Games account with an active GTA+ membership and you’ll be able to play the games in full; much like how the GTA Trilogy on mobile is handled with Netflix.
Given Rockstar have put the Nintendo Switch logo in the site already, I’d imagine we are not too far away from finding out and this becoming official. It possible that it comes as part of the next GTA+ month. The current GTA+ month ends on July 31st; just a couple of weeks away. We’ll cover any changes to GTA+ right here on RockstarINTEL.
