The next game in the legendary career of co-founder of Rockstar Games and writer of GTA V among many other games, Dan Houser, has a new trailer. It has been over two years since his exit from Rockstar Games which took the community by surprise It has largely been quiet since then until now with the release of a gameplay trailer for Skyborne Legacy, a game he is backing.
It was announced last month Mr Houser joined Revolving Games as an adviser plus invested money into the company. The latest raising round Dan Houser was apart of totalled $25 million according to the new press release from Revolving Games. This studio was founded in 2019 as a mobile game studio and are now turning to blockchain technology for their future games.
Teaser Trailer
Today, the studio have shared the first look at their new MMORPG Skyborne Legacy with a trailer, gameplay and a whole host of new details. Let’s start with the Teaser Trailer for the game.
They follow it up by saying “Revolving Games is committed to building fun and lasting games and has already received support from major strategic investors and advisors, consulting on game development, marketing, brand partnerships, and other aspects to create truly immersive experiences. One of them is Dan Houser — the legendary game designer and a former co-founder of Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption series developer Rockstar Games. Houser joined Revolving Games as a member of the advisory board and investor.”
This is an interesting step in Dan’s career as many thought he would go to a more mainstream studio or even start his own from the ground up. President of Worldwide Studios at Revolving Games, Shayan Zaeem, said that “We’re lucky to be working with game veterans and leaders in their respective fields.”

Additional details
On top of the trailer, a Twitch AMA (Ask Me Anything) will hosted on the official Skyborne Legacy Twitch channel here. We also have the project roadmap below which shows where we are currently and what will come before the game’s full release.
Christopher Arrington, the Game Director for Skyborne Legacy said “We’re extremely excited to show off an early sneak peek at the world and gameplay. A lot of passion and effort has gone into crafting the vision and look and feel of the game, and the team is excited to be integrating Web3 technology and ethos into our game development processes. We’re thrilled to share this first build with the community, as we continue to hone Skyborne Legacy.”
How did Rockstar’s co-founder get involved?
According to an GamesBeat interview with Revolving Games CEO Saad Zaeem, he said he met with Dan Houser “a few years ago and they started exploring ideas together. But they wound up doing different kinds of work. So Houser became an adviser (and an investor) instead.” Zaeem goes onto say “Dan is a legend of the industry”, this is true especially for fans of the games created by Rockstar.
Blockchain technology has been controversial in recent times, particularly in the games industry. A large portion of the industry is currently rejecting this with only a couple of major companies such as Ubisoft and Square Enix dipping their toes in and facing severe backlash. Former co-worker of Dan Houser, Leslie Benzies’ new game had job listings mentioning blockchain technology. A developer from the studio stated the game is not being built on the blockchain. There have been no more updates on this so far.
