The latest Rockstar Games studio based in Los Angeles have started a new round of hiring. The roles include NPC writers and casting assistants. Many will speculate this will be for GTA 6, GTA 6 Online or the next game after that.
Back in August, we reported on the job openings for the newest addition to the Rockstar Games family. Rockstar acquired motion capture specialists Standard Deviation who are based in Santa Monica, LA. Since then, they’ve been rebranded as Rockstar Games LA.
The first job was for an Electronics Engineer. It states the successful candidate will “join a team focused on designing and building cutting-edge hardware tools for motion capture and game production.”
NPC writers wanted
Rockstar Universe recently found more job listings. These include an Associate Writer: Pedestrian & Ambient Dialogue plus a Casting Assistant and Associate. Whilst the writing position is still on Rockstar’s career page, the two casting roles have been removed.
The non-playable character writer job description says “This is an entry-level role that will have you working alongside other writers to create exciting, interactive encounters with our games’ pedestrians.”
It goes onto say this employee will:
- Write funny, character-driven, and unique dialogue for our ambient population.
- Work with key stakeholders to understand and support the technical requirements for player-led, dialogue-based interactions with our ambient population.
- Provide exciting dialogue that works within the strict constraints of a complex game system.
- Undertake self-motivated research and leverage that research to enrich your writing.
- Understand and match the tone of our games.
On the Casting Assistant page it said “Rockstar Games’ Los Angeles Casting team will be casting NPCs and other voiceover roles to be recorded locally. We support Directors to help maintain the nuance and continuity of the game’s world.
The Casting Assistant who gets this job will support for the NY production team, casting background voiceover roles.
