The GTA 6 trailer has helped Rockstar Games get to 10 million subscribers on YouTube. In just a few days, the developer behind Grand Theft Auto VI racked up millions of subscribers thanks to the incredible reach of the first GTA VI trailer. The trailer which now has over 120 million views, received 100 million of those in just over a day.

Before the GTA VI trailer was announced, the company had 7.35 million subscribers. Rockstar gained 200,000 in 3 days as fans waited in anticipation of the trailer likely appearing on YouTube.

Rockstar Games then announced on Monday the trailer would be on YouTube. This prompted many to flock and subscribe to their channel. However, the trailer leaked late on Monday and that made Rockstar Games release the trailer early. Despite the leak, it broke records earning tens of millions of views in just a few hours. On Monday alone, Rockstar’s YouTube channel gained around 1.2 million subscribers.

In the next couple of days, the channel would earn over a million more. Since the trailer was scheduled as a YouTube Premiere, Rockstar have gained over 3 million subscribers. This has allowed them to achieve 10 million overall.

The company behind GTA are, at the time of writing, the 553rd most subscribed channel on YouTube. Their channel is also only 50 million views away from 1 billion views in total.

Rockstar Games are the first AAA game developer to achieve this feat on YouTube. Some game specific channels do have more subscribers For example, League of Legends has 15 million, Fortnite and Minecraft have 12 million each and PlayStation have 15 million. RobTopGames, an indie developer, boasts an impressive 13+ million subscribers.

Rockstar do not have as many videos compared to the larger channels except for RobTop. On Rockstar’s channel you can find 342 uploaded videos. For comparison, League of Legends has over 1400, Fortnite has over 1200, Minecraft has 867 and PlayStation have posted over 21,000.

What do you get for 10 million subs?

When a channel reaches 10 million subscribers on YouTube, the platform will send the person a Diamond Play Button. The button shell itself is a silver-plated metal. In the middle of the shell, there is a play button shaped crystal. All subscriber awards from YouTube are made by Society Awards, the company who made other awards such as the Emmy’s and Golden Globes.
