The GTA 6 trailer has broken past 100 million views on Rockstar Games’ official YouTube channel. This feat was achieved in just over 24 hours.
Whilst it is fastest viewed non-music video in 24 hours and most liked trailer of all-time, it could not top the record for the fastest viewed video in 24 hours. It sits in third place behind two BTS music videos.
Both of these hit over 100 million within a day whereas GTA VI’s trailer had around 93 million. The Grand Theft Auto VI trailer now has over 10 million likes. There’s also an astonishing 800,000+ comments as well. As of Friday 8th December, the trailer has amassed over 130 million views.
The previous record holder of the most viewed non music video in 24 hours, Mr Beast, took to Twitter (currently known as X) to say “The GTA 6 trailer just broke our record for most views on YouTube in 24 hours”. Rockstar Games responded with two emojis supporting Mr Beast.
One thing to note is this does not include the views of trailer reuploads or reaction videos. Gaming news outlet GameSpot reuploaded the trailer and so far it has surpassed 18 million views within two days.
GTA V’s iconic trailer continues to make history
To put it all in perspective, the GTA VI trailer on Rockstar’s channel beat GTA V’s first and iconic trailer to 100 million views. The GTA V trailer finally hit 100 million today after the GTA 6 trailer. Where it took a little over 1 day for GTA VI, the GTA V trailer took 12 years; specifically 4,417 days. These are both of Rockstar Games’ most viewed videos too.
Interestingly, Rockstar Games’ official YouTube channel gained over 2.1 million subscribers since the day of the leaked trailer. They are now just 300,000 shy of getting 10 million total subscribers.
