Rockstar Games just confused a lot of GTA 6 fans with their boxing sponsorship once again. As fans of the company and their games can’t stop dreaming of a second trailer or any information for that matter, Rockstar Games shared an unexpected post on social media.
On Friday, Rockstar shared on Instagram a boxing match poster and caption saying “Watch @lucasroehrig1 — trained and managed by former world champion @stgeorgegroves — in his second pro bout this Saturday Feb 1! 🥊 See it on @skysportsboxing in the UK and @peacock in the US.” This led to many followers sharing their confusion in the comments with others even thinking Rockstar had been hacked.
However, this is not the first boxing post they’ve made in the past few months. We’ve reported on how Rockstar are sponsoring up and coming boxer Lucas Roehrig and his trainer George Groves. They even discussed what it meant and GTA 6 in a podcast too. Roehrig has since updated his Instagram and Twitter bio to feature “Sponsored by @rockstargames” which is quite a flex.
As for the fight, Roehrig walked out displaying the iconic Rockstar Games logo in black and white on his vest and shorts. Whilst representing the company’s logo, the 21-year-old won the fight in just 3 rounds when the referee stopped the fight giving him a technical knockout. His record is now 2-0 with his first fight ending via KO in the 3rd round as well.

It will be fun to see what sort of collaboration Rockstar and Roehrig continue to have in the lead up to GTA 6. Whilst this sponsorship might seem like a random swing by Rockstar, that is not the case. They’ve sponsored various athletes and teams from across all sorts of sports over the past 25 years.
