Rockstar Games appear to be gearing up to patch their 2006 classic Bully. It will be a welcome surprise to the die-hard fans of this game even though they’d much prefer a remaster or sequel.
The information about a new update stems from the Steam database which was spotted by Rockstar insider Tez2. The community member shared in a Tweet that Rockstar have added a new development branch to the Steam version of Bully: Scholarship Edition. This is the first time in 10 years Rockstar have done this.
Some will wonder why this is happening right now. Well, if you’ve played Bully on PC recently you’ll know there are various crashes that make it hard to play. These issues do not look good on the game nor Rockstar. It will look even worse if access to the game on PC comes to GTA+.
That’s the reason Tez thinks is why they’re going to update the game. Back in August, Bully’s mobile port was added to GTA Online’s subscription service GTA+. This means anyone who is a GTA+ member on Xbox Series X|S or PS5 can now play Bully in full, on their phones, with an membership.
Of course, that’s the mobile version. What does that have to do with the Steam version? At the start of this month Rockstar finally confirmed the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S features of GTA Online would be coming to PC in early 2025.
One of the big pieces of content PC players will get is GTA+. At the moment, only console and mobile ports of games are included in GTA+. Given those gamers an option to have access classic Rockstar titles such as Bully on PC would certainly help sell subscriptions of GTA+.
The game is also one of the best selling Rockstar titles on their Game Launcher. The fact it has sold well over the past few years and still has crashing issues is disappointing. Perhaps a fix will finally be on its way.
