New GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition Update Helped Bring Back Players

The GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition’s biggest and most important update released last week and it has had an effect on bringing people back to playing the games.

The remasters had a lot of fans excited to check them out when they released 3 years ago. However, the state they launched in was a disaster. Many fans asked for refunds and others who could not get one quickly stopped playing. A large portion even stopped caring about any potential updates.

Despite that, Video Game Deluxe have taken over the project and fixed hundreds of issues from the most glaring to minute detail. The big update arrived as a surprise and it certainly has made many GTA fans pleased.

Xbox Stats Revealed

In terms of people turning up to check out the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition now it has been mostly fixed, True Achievements have some interesting stats to share. They have reported the Definitive Edition version of GTA San Andreas had a 135% increase in players in the past week since the update released.

This uses a pool of 2.4 million Xbox accounts. The game is also 60% off on Xbox right now as part of the yearly Xbox Black Friday sale. Despite that, it did not make the top 40 most played games on Xbox. GTA V remained in the top 5 like usual though.

PC Gamers

As for Steam players, there was some improvement in the player count but probably less than you think. Starting with GTA III, before the update it would sit around 50 to 100 players concurrently per day.

Now it has one up to a range of 120 to 150. Meanwhile Vice City hovered around 200; now it is closer to 250. The biggest growth on Steam was with GTA San Andreas. Before the update, it would range 300 to 500. Since the big patch, it has been consistently over 500 with peaks of over 700.

In other GTA Trilogy news, it looks like Rockstar and Video Game Deluxe are not finished with it yet. A new update is being teased. Also, the CEO of Grove Street Games hit back at Rockstar’s change of splash screen.
