Yes you read that right, you can now play Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online on your Tesla. We have all the details on how this has come about below.
Throughout 2023 there has been a lot of talk and Tweets from Tesla CEO Elon Musk about playing games on Teslas. A new major milestone hit this week as the company announced Valve’s Steam platform can be downloaded and installed on the company’s Model S & X vehicles. So you can drive a Coil Raiden in GTA V whilst you sit in your Tesla Model S. This is all part of the Tesla Holiday Update that brings a lot of new features to the models of cars.
A flagship game
In the company’s Twitter video showing off the Steam integration, Cyberpunk 2077 is the game shown actually running on the car’s display but you can see Grand Theft Auto V was one of the next games in the Steam Library on screen. You are also able to connect wireless controllers such as the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller for play inside the car.
How can it run GTA V?
In 2021, Tesla upgraded the computers inside their new electric cars and YouTuber Ingineerix decided to take the PC out and see what the specs are. Ingineerix stated back then the Tesla PC is powered by a quad-core Ryzen 45W APU based on the Zen+ architecture. You’re looking at around 10 Teraflops of processing power here. Whilst there are a lot of specs that make up a game console or PC, the PS5 offers around 10 Teraflops of power from its AMD APU. You can expect decent performance playing games given they are showcasing Cyberpunk 2077 off with it. GTA V released back in 2013, the PC version in 2015, so parking your Tesla and playing GTA V at 60fps whenever you like will be no problem.
