During Take-Two Interactive’s Q3 2023 quarterly earnings presentation, CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the success of Rockstar Games’ titles over the past three months. From GTA V to Red Dead 2, we go over all of his statements in this article.

Grand Theft Auto V goes big for Take-Two

Take-Two Interactive revealed that Grand Theft Auto V sold over 175 million copies, up from the “over 170m” in November. Grand Theft Auto V normally sells an average of 5 Million every month. The total sales of the Grand Theft Auto series is now at over 395 million copies worldwide, up 10 million from 3 months ago.

Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has revealed during the earnings call that GTA V “exceeded expectations” and the Los Santos Drug Wars has “led to stronger engagement”. Take-Two also said in the call Rockstar Games will “continue to support GTA Online with additional content updates later this year.”

2022 might have been GTA V’s 9th year on the market but it had a big one. Take-Two say it was the 3rd best selling game in the USA with all platforms combined. It was also the 2nd best selling game on Steam for the year too.

Update on the GTA 6 leak

In an interview with IGN, Strauss Zelnick stated: “We take leaks very seriously indeed and they disappoint all of us, it’s really frustrating and upsetting to the team. However as a business matter we’re not affected. But as a personal matter and an emotional matter, our teams are affected.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 hits 50m copies sold

Red Dead Redemption 2 sold an extra four million copies in the last 3 months, which is the up from the last quarter. This means Red Dead Redemption 2 has now sold over 50 million copies worldwide. In total the Red Dead Series has now sold over 70 Million copies. Zelnick also added in the earnings call that Red Dead Redemption 2 “outpaced expectations”. As for Red Dead Online, more players were active in the game in the past quarter than the same quarter last year.

GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition mobile version in limbo

Another quarter has passed and no more information on the mobile version of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition. Take-Two’s investor reports state the release is “TBA”, to be announced.
