GTA 6 is releasing in Fall 2025 and GTA V now sold over 200 million copies sold. During Take-Two Interactive’s Q4 2024 quarterly earnings presentation, CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the success of Rockstar Games’ titles over the past three months.
GTA 6 confirmed for Fall 2025
Take-Two Interactive stated in their Reports Results for Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2024 that the window for GTA VI’s launch has narrowed from Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025. This is what we had expected. That means we’ll be getting the next GTA game towards the end of next year.
Mr Zelnick stated on the call that “We feel really great about that release date and title” when asked about Take-Two’s confidence in the Fall 2025 window. As for when we’ll hear and see more from the game, Zelnick said they’re leaving it up to Rockstar and it’ll be in the “fullness of time”.
The company also share that they are very confident in the game with this quote below:
We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase. Looking ahead, we believe that our Company is poised to achieve new levels of success…
Grand Theft Auto V is still being bought by a lot of people
Take-Two Interactive revealed that Grand Theft Auto V sold over 200 million copies, up from the over 195m in February. Grand Theft Auto V normally sells an average of 5 million every month. The total sales of the Grand Theft Auto series is now at over 425 million copies worldwide, up 5 million from 3 months ago.
GTA Online keeps gaining more players year-on-year
Rockstar’s parent company also shared that GTA V had grown in players by 35% over last year. Plus, GTA Online has also seen a similar bump. It has earned 23% more players year-on-year. This comes as GTA V enters its 11th year. Earnings overall were inline with the prior year. However, Take-Two have told investors that they expect to see a decline in earnings for GTA Online. This should not surprise anyone given it has been going for over a decade and a new GTA game is out next year.
GTA+ is a winning subscription
GTA+ is continuing to grow. It doubled the amount of subscribers over this time last year according to Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick. This is quite significant growth and likely down to the improved perks part of the service in the past few months.
Red Dead Redemption 2 hits 64m copies sold
Red Dead Redemption 2 sold an extra three million copies in the last 3 months. This means Red Dead Redemption 2 has now sold over 64 million copies worldwide, up from 61 million last time round. In total the Red Dead Series has now sold over 89 million copies, up from 86m last time. Take-Two’s CEO also noted that Red Dead 2 had surpassed their expectations once again this quarter.
