The next GTA Online update’s supposed release date has been shared by an insider.
On Thursday, the GTA+ month content changed as expected. These GTA+ months last 4 weeks as you’d expect. However, Rockstar Games sometimes adjusts their length to coincide with a new GTA Online DLC.
This happened as recent as this summer. Rockstar extended June-July GTA+ month from July 18th until July 26th. This was so it would change when the San Andreas Mercenaries update released.
With the current GTA+ month starting on November 9th, we would have expected it to end on December 6th. However, that is not the case.
The next GTA Online update release date
Rockstar Games announced on Thursday the GTA+ month would end on December 12th, a whole 6 days later than anticipated. Reputable GTA Online insider, Tez2, Tweeted that December 12th is the expected GTA Online DLC release date.
Is this going to be a substantial update?
Even though the December updates have been on the larger side in recent years, that might not be the case for 2023. My colleague Kyle Evans reported this week that sources say “Rockstar Games don’t have any plans for a major December update due to the announcement of GTA 6.”
Rockstar Games hinted on Thursday towards one piece of content part of this upcoming update. During their Event Week Newswire post, they announced Simeon’s Employee of the Month Challenge.
From now until November 15th, the GTA Online community must band together to earn GTA$15 billion via exporting cars. If this is achieved, every GTA Online player will unlock a special livery for a brand new vehicle. The identity of the vehicle is unknown.
GTA Online and December are a match
Rockstar Games typically launch a new GTA Online update in December each year so an update next month is not out of the ordinary.
As far back as GTA Online’s first year in 2013, Rockstar released the Content Creator and Holiday Gifts updates that December. Festive Surprise followed a year later just after the Xbox One and PS4 version of the game. 2015 introduced the Executives and Other Criminals and another Festive Surprise patch; the same year the game released on PC.
Import/Export was for 2016 whilst The Doomsday Heist stole 2017. The Arena War kicked off in 2018 whereas The Diamond Casino Heist concluded 2019 in style. Despite the global pandemic affecting game development hard, Rockstar Games managed to put out a brand new location in GTA Online before Christmas.
Residents of Los Santos could now fly to an island and take part in The Cayo Perico Heist. Dr Dre among other famous faces showed up in 2021 for The Contract. Last year’s update was the start of Los Santos Drug Wars, a two part update.
