The man behind the performance of John Marston in Red Dead Redemption is playing the game for the very first time and you can watch his adventure live. The game celebrated its 15th anniversary a few days ago and actor Rob Wiethoff took to Twitch and YouTube for his very first playthrough of the game.
Despite working on the first game for around two years and roughly 4 years on the sequel he has never actually played the game. That has now changed. Earlier this month Rob went live on both YouTube and Twitch starting his first playthrough.
Whilst early moments of the initial stream had some fun technical difficulties, fans have been thrilled with the broadcasts. As Wiethoff goes through the game, he shares insights into the production of it. From stories from the soundbooth to just how fun it was doing the motion capture.
For example, the first scene he shot was John’s return to Fort Mercer. Rob says his first recorded line as John was “Bill!” A laser pointer was aimed high up and he was told to look at it when delivering his lines as if he was looking at Bill. Meanwhile Steve J. Palmer who portrayed Bill Williamson was likely standing beside him but looking down.

You can watch his future livestreams on YouTube and Twitch. The actor also gave a tease that he’s going to try and get other actors who starred alongside him in the game to join upcoming live streams.
Rob is not the only actor getting involved in livestreaming games from the Red Dead series. Roger Clark who played Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2 has announced he’ll be livestreaming a playthrough of the game soon. Roger is on record for saying he has already played the games before however. Stay tuned for more details on when he’ll be playing the masterpiece he helped bring to life.
