PlayStation Plus players head to the east coast
Everyone who subscribes to the PlayStation Plus Premium or Extra tiers will be able to download the fully remastered GTA III when it is added to the service. The date PlayStation give on their blog post is Tuesday June 10th. This promo is part of PlayStation’s “Days of Play” event. A year ago, GTA San Andreas’ Definitive Edition was added to the service during the annual event.
You’ll have full access to Liberty City until your membership ends or when it is removed from the service. Typically, Rockstar Games titles remain part of PlayStation Plus for 6 months. For example, GTA San Andreas came in last June and exited in November. Therefore we’d expect GTA III The Definitive Edition to leave PlayStation Plus’ Game Catalog in November this year.

This is not the first time GTA III has been part of PlayStation Plus. It entered the service on launch day back in 2021 for 6 months. Whereas Vice City followed in October 2022.
Released in late 2021 to much criticism, the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition received some updates to fix many of the worst issues. It took 3 years but most of the issues have been resolved. A large update was released in 2024 which made many fans quite happy. You can learn more about it here. This means it is a good time to check out GTA III on PS5 or PS4.
In other GTA III news, fans have ported the game over to its originally intended platform: the SEGA Dreamcast. Check out the incredible work done on it here.
