GTA 6 Pre-orders have officially gone live. While most people will buy the game on the PlayStation or Xbox Store digitally, some will opt to other the physical edition, which includes a code in a box and no disc. It has caused some uproar within the community, and there is news to make matters more dire.
As reported and uncovered by Eurogamer, several physical UK listings of GTA 6 include a disclaimer in the description: ‘The PlayStation 5 version can only be used by users holding an account for PlayStation registered to the United Kingdom.’ However, our own research has shown that listings in the Netherlands, specifically at retailer Nedgame, show a whole range of countries that the code can be redeemed from. Even stretching as far as South-Africa, with notably the UK excluded.
This may mean that players who are located in the UK would be wise to not order a physical copy of GTA 6 in other countries for financial gain. Such as the game costing less in France or through an Amazon deal. Furthermore, GTA 6 costs less in the UK anyways. It is against European Union law to geo-block game codes in the European Economic Area borders, which could indicate this warning may be a mistake of sorts, though that has not been confirmed yet.
Disc controversy

Ever since Rockstar announced pre-order details for GTA 6, eyebrows went up at the prospect that the physical edition of the game would not include a disc, and rather a download code. This makes the buyer unable to resell or lend the game, tying the game to the user’s account permanently. On the flip side, it does prevent copies falling of the back of a truck pre-release, preventing leaks. It also ensures everyone gets to play the game at the same time at midnight local time.
In other recent news, Rockstar Games have announced all of the pre-order info such as price and what’s included within the various editions. Plus, a hint at a GTA 6 Online mode has been found in the XBOX download files.
