GTA 6 price has finally been revealed after months of waiting. As part of a big pre-order info blow out, Rockstar Games have finalised the retail cost of GTA VI. The price will delight or upset some depending what your motive.
According to a new press release from Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive, Grand Theft Auto VI will cost $79.99. That is $10 more than most AAA video games in 2026. At least it is not $100 like some banks, shareholders and game companies were hoping.
In comparison, the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition will set players back $99.99. This version contains purely cosmetic bonuses: “an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story”. There is no physical collector’s edition.

This news has upset some gamers due to the higher base price, lack of physical disc copies and no collector’s edition with real world goodies. This breaks the tradition of GTA and Rockstar Games titles. No disc is quite remarkable for such a big game.
Grand Theft Auto VI was previously only able to be wishlisted on both the PlayStation and Xbox Store. Retailers could not take pre-orders officially either. Only small independent stores have been taken people’s money for a couple of years in anticipation and to earn interest on the cash. As of Thursday June 25th, GTA VI can be pre-ordered from the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store plus all select online and physical retailers.
Pre-Order Warning
Something to keep in mind before pre-ordering is when your money will be taken from your account. Where PlayStation will immediately charge you the money for GTA VI (despite not being released until November), Xbox will only charge you up to 10 days before the game comes out. Amazon also do not charge until the item is shipped so just before launch whereas other retailers will take payment when you place an order.
