The GTA 6 trailer has just broke another major milestone. A little over 7 months after it released early following a leak, the trailer has surpassed 200 million views on YouTube. It already broke various YouTube records, world records but this total views figure is also unprecedented for a video game trailer.
It does not mean 200 million individual people have watched it once. We know plenty of fans will have re-watched it several times over during the past 7 months.
Nearly half of its views came within the first 24 hours so it has taken over half a year to double its tally. Despite major slowdown in recent months, this is expected with videos, especially trailers.

The fact that Trailer 1 for Grand Theft Auto VI hit 200 million views before the release of Trailer 2 is blowing some fans’ minds. Many GTA fans have speculated for months now that the second GTA VI trailer‘s release is imminent. However, this speculation is baseless and is not in-line with Rockstar’s previous titles’ marketing.
There’s still almost half of 2024 remaining so there is still a chance we get the second GTA VI trailer this year. If anything, it would be towards the backend of the calendar year.
We took an in-depth look at Rockstar’s “recent” marketing strategies here and a late 2024 drop for Trailer 2 would be a bit more likely than say now or the past few months like others had hoped for.
Speaking of YouTube stats for the trailer, YouTube recently announced a new stat about the GTA VI trailer and the GTA community. The company released their Culture and Trends Report for 2023 last month featuring GTA VI. You can find out more about the incredible new stat revealed by YouTube here.
