A very specific item seen in the GTA 6 trailer has been added to GTA Online by Rockstar Games. As part of the recent Bottom Dollar Bounties DLC, Rockstar Games created over 350 new pieces of clothing and accessories (as per the patch notes) and at least one of them was first seen in the first GTA VI trailer.
A fan called DogWifDreads on Reddit who was going through the new 150+ female character clothing items and noticed something brand new but familiar. Under the chains option of accessories, there is a new item called Silver Layered Necklace. They realised this was the exact same one worn by the woman on the rooftop which many fans believe to be Lucia, the main protagonist of GTA VI.
This single shot caused quite substantial divide within the community back in December last year. Is it Lucia undercover? Or is it just an NPC that looks similar? Fans took on the role of detective to prove their side is correct. It became quite a big debate on social media!
From this side by side comparison above, it is clear these items are the same aside from higher fidelity in the GTA VI version. They each feature three necklaces with the same end point. Whilst it is fun to see content that first appeared in the GTA VI trailer make its way into GTA Online, they are not GTA VI assets.
They’re made for GTA Online and reused in GTA VI
A lot of fans have started calling content from GTA VI’s trailer in GTA Online as “backported” content. We covered a rather excellent explanation from GTAwiki admin and 3D artist Monkeypolice188 who dismissed claims of GTA VI assets in GTA Online. It is actually the other way around.
Rockstar Games will create assets for GTA V/GTA Online then spruce them up for GTA VI. We’d highly recommend reading the full explanation given which includes how Rockstar Games work.
Given a lot of the new vehicles we are seeing come to GTA Online were originally planned for the cancelled 2020 Cops ‘n’ Crooks DLC, it’s possible this necklace was also made a long time ago and was simply never released until now.
DogWifDreads also wonders if there will be any other items of clothing recently added to the game that will have been seen in the GTA VI trailer. With GTA VI set to release in Fall 2025, there will probably be another 2-3 content drops before then. The likelihood of this happening again is high.
As for upcoming content in the near future, there are still several pieces of content yet to release as part of the latest GTA Online update. Rockstar Games, as usual, a lot of it ready for dripfeed content. You can check out screenshots of them, details, prices, and more here.
