A GTA 6 map model has already been made by a fan and you can download it right now. Just like with GTA V, the community has come together for a mapping project. They want to work out what the map is going to be like before the game releases.
Starting from the gameplay leaks in 2022, the community has been able to piece some parts of the map together. The first official trailer gave them much more to work with and it has allowed for a bit more accuracy.
An example given by a fan is that the real life Loews Hotel in Miami can be seen four different shots during the GTA VI trailer. Despite being in the early stages, a lot of progress has been made in a short time.
It is also worth noting that what we see in the trailer could change by 2025. GTA V’s first trailer is fantastic and iconic. However, it contained shots that did not have parts of the map loaded in. We also know from recent leaks that the game did change in its last couple of years before release.

No matter the inaccuracies in the community map to the final game, this project is a lot of fun to watch and be involved in. GTA VI’s map is already proving to be more difficult to map out due to its scale and wide array of content but that is what makes it even more exciting
The 3D model

YouTuber Dark Space has created a 3D model of the map based on what we see in the first GTA VI trailer and the community map. It gives us the opportunity to look at the game’s world from different perspectives from the trailer shots.

It is in an early stage of progress right now. The accuracy is already taking shape though. Dark Space layered his map on the trailer and you can see there a good amount of similarity. By using the shots in the trailer and leaked footage, it has been possible to work out a rough placement for the locations.

Dark Space has also compared the size of the GTA VI map with GTA V’s and IV’s. It is clear that Leonida will be bigger than the maps found within GTA V and GTA IV but that’s only part of the story. A large portion of San Andreas was similar outside of Los Santos whereas there appears to be more variety in the Leonida map. The Everglades are just one example.

Based on this 3D model, the entire GTA VI map and all of Los Santos can fit in Vice City. Leaks have shown other urban town/city environments further away from Vice City. This is different from GTA V. It does feature far more water though so that is something to consider.
Dark Space reached out to us and said he has published his model as a free download. This means anyone who wants to collaborate on the project via a model can do so with this one.
He has also given permission for it to be used in your own content; be sure to give him credit of course. You can download the model for yourself here and feel free to contribute to it. We’d also recommend checking out Dark Space’s YouTube video where he gives extra explanation into his model and process.

It’s really great to see the GTA community come together once again. Over a decade ago, it was a lot of fun keeping up with the community mapping developments before GTA V released and this is no different. Leonida appears to be Rockstar’s grandest game world yet and it is providing fans with a fun and rewarding challenge.
Speaking of GTA communities coming together, one GTA RP server recently bought a PC for a new member going through a tough time. We wrote about the story here.
