GTA 6 has been played for the big boss. CEO of Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive Strauss Zelnick has revealed he has seen Grand Theft Auto 6 in action and cleared up some comments he made last week. Plus, we find out if he has played what will be the biggest game of all time ahead of release.
During the iicons event in Las Vegas, Zelnick took part in a number of interviews and they have all came with some interesting quotes which we’ve reported on. They ranged from GTA VI’s price to a PC release. GameFile’s Stephen Totilo got to interview him (paywalled) and get some clarity on a number of his quotes.
Has Take-Two’s CEO Played GTA VI?
Totilo straight up asked the CEO if he has played Grand Theft Auto VI in 2026. Zelnick simply said that he is “not a video game player”. This is something he has said before which we have reported on previously.
Totilo pressed him for more answers; does Strauss wonder what the game is like? The top boss reiterated he does not play games but did state he has “everything demoed” for him. So he has seen GTA VI played for him by employees.
To top things off, the journalist asked Zelnick how the game is looking given that he has seen it played. As you’d expect, the CEO pointed him towards the “amazing” trailer and he will “leave it at that.”

Another point from the interview is a clarification on a comment made by Zelnick from a talk last week. He was asked about L.A. Noire and noted Take-Two always look at ways to do more with their franchises. Totilo told him this comments were taken by fans as a hint for more L.A. Noire. Unfortunately, Zelnick said “it was misunderstood as an announcement. I was not doing that.”
In case you missed previous stories on GTA 6 related comments by Zelnick, here’s a few. Zelnick explained why PC is (probably) coming after consoles plus how the game’s aim is to do something never before seen in history. Learn more here.
