GTA 6 is still targeting a Fall 2025 according to Rockstar Games’ parent company. Take-Two Interactive held their Annual Meeting of Stockholders on Wednesday. It included an online meeting with the board plus a detailed report that shared a lengthy overview into what the company is up to.
Inside that report, we can see the same statement they gave to investors in May 2024: “Rockstar Games continues to invest in the franchise and plans to release Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall of calendar 2025.” Take Two also note how “We are dependent on the future success of our Grand Theft Auto”.
Whilst this is not a new statement, they have put it in their annual report to investors meaning it is the most up to date information as of now. The reason why this is important is because there was a rumour about a delay that spread like wildfire this month.
Ex-Rockstar Director Talks Delays
Former Rockstar Games Technical Director Obbe Vermeij took to Twitter to discuss any possible delay. He said that the decision to delay GTA IV was made just 4 months before the intended release date. Based on this, he thinks Rockstar are not in a position to know if Fall 2025 will be met until around May 2025.
Furthermore, Vermeij states Rockstar aren’t worried as there is no competition; they can take as long as they like until they are totally happy with the product. They are striving for perfection after all.
