GTA 6’s Fall 2025 release date has been explained by the big boss at the top. Strauss Zelnick who is the CEO of Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive made his quarterly appearance on an American financial TV show following the quarterly earnings report. He responded to questions from hosts on CNBC which involved GTA VI. Below are the questions and answers.
Internal delay scares investors
The big talking point out of the quarterly report has been GTA VI’s release window being “narrowed down” to Fall 2025. This made investors a bit upset as they expected it to release in early 2025. This unrest caused the company’s share price to tumble a fair bit though it did recover afterwards.
Investors, fans and others in the financial world have been questioning Take-Two’s and Rockstar’s confidence in the Fall 2025 window. This follows what appears to be an internal delay from Spring 2025.
CNBC did not waste any time quizzing Strauss on the Fall 2025 window starting with “How do you know, creatively, when the timing is going to be? Is it a judgement call? It is an obvious logistics call?”.

In response to that question, Strauss said:
“There are various elements you can measure including the number of bugs in a title. Every one of us will make sure we have as few bugs as possible before we launch. However, in the case of an extraordinary title for which there are extraordinary expectations, it’s not really the bugs it’s about creating an experience no one’s seen before. And Rockstar Games seeks perfection in what they do. Perfection is indeed hard to measure, it’s more subjective than objective.”

We’ve heard Strauss say Rockstar are “seeking perfection” a few times now but this is the most expanded response that includes that phrase. Based on what we know about games, there will be a lot of bugs Rockstar will be squashing right now as it has entered the final stages of development.
This happens with every game. Compared to other titles, GTA V and Red Dead 2 released fairly well considering their size. No doubt the size of GTA VI being much bigger than the rest is introducing more challenges. Though Rockstar are capable of pulling it off.
Are they confident the game won’t be delayed to 2026?

Another CNBC host asked the CEO how confident he is in the Fall 2025 release window at the moment. Zelnick explained that slips to happen in the industry and that they are not immune to it. The reason behind narrowing the time frame is because they are confident in hitting it.
When asked about what will be new for the consumer in GTA VI, Strauss simply pointed to the trailer as it broke the internet. He did not want to reveal anything else. That is all done on Rockstar’s end. You can get the full story on Rockstar from Take-Two’s recent report here.
Go watch the trailer again, it’s awesome! It does tell you what’s new and different.
