Less than a day after a leak for a physical version of Red Dead Redemption on PS5, a second leak has taken place. Yesterday, Spanish retailers began listing disc copies of Red Dead Redemption for PS5 ahead of a release next week.
Release Date And Upgrade
According to that ever reliable billbil-kun of Deal Labs, there is more than just a physical PS5 edition of Red Dead Redemption coming. billbil-kun shared in a new report that Red Dead Redemption will be released on PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 physically in Europe on May 7th 2026.
However, the switch to variant will be a “Code-in-a-Box”. This means there is no physical cartridge included. There will only be a code to redeem on the Nintendo eShop. No doubt this will disappoint fans considering the game can’t easily fit on a game cartridge as it only clocks in at around 12GB.
For those that want a true physical cartridge, buy the Switch 1 cart. Both physical game cart and digital copy owners get the free upgrade on Switch 2. To get the free Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade, you need to make sure Red Dead Redemption has been updated on your Switch 2 to the latest version.
Pricing
In terms of price, both of these editions will be significantly cheaper than the retail price of the digital versions. billbil-kun explains they will cost €34.99 each. That is a €15 reduction over the non-sale price of the digital versions. Much like its digital counterparts, it will come complete with the Undead Nightmare expansion and Game of the Year Edition content. There will be no online multiplayer mode either.

Switch 2 Features
This leak comes a few months after the game was re-released on Switch 2. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Red Dead Redemption has several improvements over the previous generation of console. Players can experience the game running at 60FPS with DLSS enabled. HDR makes the game pop too. There’s even support for the mouse controls thanks to the function of the new Joycons. Players can aim just like they would on PC.
