There has been some new developments from Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser since he excited the company he helped turn into the global powerhouse. Dan personally invested in Revolving Games and they have just partnered with a new project to release a game and we have the first details.
New game collaboration
NFT project Overlord which are web3 collectables of lizards have announced it partnered with Revolving Games this week. According to Overlord co-founder Dom Smith via Decrypt, they are teaming up to make a game for the Overlord project. The game has no name at this moment in time but is apparently sci-fi in theme with plans to “span multiple planets and universes”. On top of that, gamers will be able to find new species of aliens. Dom Smith goes onto say “Each species has their own motivations and skills, and due to their unique abundance of resources and technological advancements, have different styles of conquering their enemies,”
How did this come about?
Back in early 2020, Dan, a mastermind behind fan favourite games left the company he helped form. It was not until September last year we heard about what he was up to since stepping back from the worlds of Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. What we found out was Houser had invested in Revolving Games and would join their advisory board. This was a new games studio focusing on web3 blockchain gaming. The teaser trailer for the company’s first game, Skyborne Legacy, was released the following month.
According to an GamesBeat interview with Revolving Games CEO Saad Zaeem, he said he met with Dan Houser “a few years ago and they started exploring ideas together. But they wound up doing different kinds of work. So Houser became an adviser (and an investor) instead.” Zaeem goes onto say “Dan is a legend of the industry”, this is true especially for fans of the games created by Rockstar.
