Red Dead Redemption has been age rated for the current generation of consoles after months and years of speculation and rumours of a re-release for Red Dead Redemption 2.
This will come as a bit of a surprise to some given the demand and countless leaks of a RDR2 re-release coming at some point. Plus, the first Red Dead Redemption got a PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch re-release in 2023 and 2024 after months of rumours about a remaster.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) have accidentally published on their website the fact that they have rated Red Dead Redemption for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S consoles. This was first spotted by Reddit user Victor4156.

It’s unknown weather this will be a big remaster or a port of the recent PS4/PC release with 4K options. Currently, the Switch 1 and PS4 versions work on Switch 2 and PS5. The PS4 version even got updated with a PS5 exclusive 60FPS mode. Xbox Series consoles can also run the original Xbox 360 version in 4K resolution too so this is a little puzzling.
Much like the previous ports, it will come complete with the Undead Nightmare expansion. This was confirmed in the ESRB’s rating as it mentions “zombies”. There will also be no online play much like the recent ports.
This is not the first time an age rating board has leaked a new Rockstar Games re-release. Both Red Dead Redemption’s ports in 2023 and the GTA Trilogy were revealed this way. Red Dead Redemption 2 was actually age rated for Switch 1 back in 2023 however that project seemingly was canned late on and may end up being a Switch 2 release.
Given that age ratings are typically done close to release, we should expect to see Red Dead Redemption on Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S very soon.
In other Red Dead and Nintendo news, Rockstar have started using red Switch 2 cases for their standard Switch games. This may have been an early indication Rockstar were planning a Switch 2 release. For more Red Dead Redemption news updates, stay tuned to RockstarINTEL.
