New claims of a Red Dead Redemption remaster have been shared online. This follows Red Dead Redemption getting a new age rating last week after despite releasing well over a decade ago. There is also a claim as to when the remaster will be revealed.
New age rating info
We reported on the South Korean rating board giving what appears to be a new version of Red Dead 1 the same 18+ rating and speculated this could be an upcoming remaster. This ratings committee have leaked plenty of games this way including the controversial GTA Trilogy The Definitive Edition.
Meanwhile GTA Forums user Nikhilmao discovered last week all of Red Dead Redemption 1’s achievements have had their icons updated with higher resolution versions. A few icons include additional small differences which you can see below. There is a more pronounced black border on them and one icon now has the text “DEAD OR ALIVE” on it.
Unfortunately, it appears these might not be new and older Rockstar Games titles such as Midnight Club also received high-res achievement art. We can strike this bit down to coincidence. These might not even be used in the remaster.
Podcast claims remaster details?
According to former IGN Editor Colin Moriarty in a patreon episode of this Sacred Symbols podcast, the Red Dead Redemption remaster is real. Transcribed by gamingroute, the host says “I have seen confirmation that this is real…I had someone reach out to me behind the scenes that showed me something that definitively shows this game is coming.”
To add even more to it, he claims the remaster will be unveiled soon perhaps in August: “Maybe even imminently with an announcement, maybe in August.”
Moriarty has previously teased and leaked video games on his podcast before so this is not unprecedented. Of course nothing is official until Rockstar Games confirm it.
