Rockstar Games have announced Red Dead Redemption is coming to the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. This is a surprising announcement as many fans of the classic western were under the impression the game would be remastered for the PC and latest generation of consoles: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
In a tweet posted by Rockstar on Monday, the company announced a Red Dead Redemption conversion by Double Eleven Studios is coming to PS4 and Switch. Double Eleven Studios have previously worked on Fallout 76, Rust Console Edition, Minecraft Dungeons and more.
Rockstar Games say also the PS4 version will be backwards compatible with the PS5. This will also be the first time new languages have been added to RDR1. This release contains Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Latin American Spanish support.
This new port of the game contains the main RDR1 game along with fan favourite expansion “Undead Nightmare”. As for multiplayer, these releases will not have any but will feature bonus content from the Game of the Year edition and more.

Release dates and editions confirmed
The game will release digitally on the two platforms next week, Thursday 17th August. Nintendo confirmed in a tweet a physical release for the Switch is coming October 13th Rockstar also suggest a PlayStation disc release the same day. The game will retail for $49.99 on the PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop It can also be added to your wish list now.
