Brand new details on the upcoming GTA Online update have just been revealed by Rockstar Games. This includes new missions which were previously part of the cancelled 2020 Cops n Crooks update. We’ve got the full rundown from Rockstar Games below.
We heard from Rockstar Games a couple of months back that a big content update would come to GTA Online this summer. There had been speculation when it would release and what it would content.
Since then, the company have remained silent leading to rampant speculation within the community. Finally, Rockstar Games have talked about the new update and what it contains via a Newswire post.
Rockstar have titled their Newswire post as Coming This Summer: A New Brand of Vigilante Justice. It’s unclear if this is the update’s name but some fans are taking it as that. The reason behind this Newswire title will be the new missions. This set of new content has you run your own bail enforcement and bounty hunting business.
The website reads “Get behind the wheel of your souped-up Cruiser and conduct a range of off-the-books enforcement activities across Los Santos.” You’ll be doing some off-the-books Dispatch Work for Vincent Effenburger.”
As always, there will be new vehicles to purchase. No new ones have been confirmed other than Rockstar reiterate that the previously announced Överflöd Pipistrello super car will be free for all GTA+ Members on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
This will happen on the day that the summer update releases. Plus, Rockstar say this car will not be made available to non-members to purchase for another week. Below is a brand new screenshot of the car.
Creator Additions
As expected, Rockstar will bring Drift Races and Drag Races to the creator mode. This means fans will be able to create their own such events. There will also be new props/units in all tracks according to the post. This includes “drivers doing donuts and bouncing lowriders, to crowd animations, and more.”
Improvements are also being made to the creating side of things of deathmatches, races and more. In a bid to make race creation easier, Rockstar will now let you “launch tests from any chosen checkpoint, and also have the option to race multiple rounds in Drag Races before a winner is declared, alongside a range of new improvements”.
Changes to game balance
Rockstar have also confirmed changes that will be made to the game’s economy and gameplay balance. Most of these changes should be a welcome addition to GTA Online by players.
Similar to other updates, they are boosting money making. For example, they are going to increase the timer for Sell Missions so that it is easier for solo players doing Biker and Gunrunning sales. There will also be an increase in payouts for certain modes. These include Taxi Work, Open Wheel Races, Operation Paper Trail, and more.
All snacks will soon automatically replenish when launching most missions. This means you’ll be able to regenerate health if you forgot to purchase some Sprunk. The studio also revealed they will be increasing the defensive and armor capabilities for the Sparrow and Bombushka. Rockstar say there will be even more improvements than these.
Release Date?
Despite Rockstar Games sharing all of this info with us, they have still not given us an exact release date. We do however now have a release month. Rockstar Games say in their article “later this month” meaning June. Previously, the Newswire post said “next month” but it has since been changed to “later this month”. When an exact release date is announced by Rockstar, we’ll write an article on our site.
More details coming soon
Rockstar Games call this update “the next major update for GTA Online”. They end their blog post by saying “Stay tuned to the Newswire for more details on what’s headed to GTA Online this Summer”. Confirmation of the usual Independence Day celebration was noted. Plus, there will be additional bonuses for The Chop Shop, The Contract, and more content during the season.

Another development tucked away at the bottom of the Newswire post is that Rockstar have launched their own WhatsApp channel. You can follow it here.
