Grand Theft Auto V is still being bought by a lot of people
Take-Two Interactive revealed that Grand Theft Auto V sold over 195 million copies, up from the over 190m in November. Grand Theft Auto V normally sells an average of 5 million every month. The total sales of the Grand Theft Auto series is now at over 420 million copies worldwide, up 10 million from 3 months ago.
GTA Online continues to print money
GTA Online’s performance exceeded Take-Two’s expectations. The December update, “The Chop Shop”, gave the game its highest number of active users in years says Strauss. Recurrent Consumer Spending Growth for Shark Cards was “notably up”. The Chop Shop update and sentiment around the GTA VI trailer drove the largest-ever increase in new GTA Online accounts according to Zelnick.
GTA+ is a winning subscription
Recurrent Consumer Spending Growth for GTA+ subscriptions was “notably up” in the past quarter. Take-Two say the service is growing rapidly. If you’re wondering about what’s included for signing up this month, we’ve got you covered here.
GTA 6 is “seeking perfection”
Grand Theft Auto VI trailer launched in December 2023 and broke YouTube’s records for a non-music launch, including 93 million views in 24 hours according to Take-Two. Strauss Zelnick notes that Rockstar is “seeking perfection” when asked about choosing the release year.
Speaking of which, the game is also still on target to release in 2025. On top of that, Take-Two say anticipation for the game is much, much higher than GTA V pre-release.
