GTA RP server Nopixel just released their trailer for a long awaited major update. Titled Nopixel 4.0, it has been in the works for quite some time and has garnered much anticipation from the server’s community. The team behind the server not only gave us a comprehensive video showing off what it will contain but also a release date.
The trailer has been met with a lot of love from the Nopixel community across social media. In just a few hours, the video has surpassed 100,00 views. Nopixel became a trend on Twitter (currently known as X) as well.
Main upgrades
The video kicks off with flying shots of downtown Los Santos mixed in with some police car chases. The narration claims all players will be “provided with the best possible experience and tools”.
Graphics
It also says the graphics have been completely redone to modernise how GTA V and GTA Online looks. It’s fairly obvious from the footage in the trailer that it looks incredible. According to Nopixel, “thousands” of models and textures have been enhanced or created from scratch.
This is not just limited to outside but it extends to the interiors of buildings. Shops, police stations, hospitals, computer shops, courts are all shown to have been given a new look. All of the work done by the artists helps give San Andreas a facelift.
Visual effects and lighting are other important graphical elements. Fire, smoke, wind, shadows and more have seen tweaks to look better and fit with the other graphical advancements.
Character customisation, UI and systems
Next on the menu is a look at the refreshed character customiser. You’ll find new cosmetic face options but also clothes too. New clothing drops will take place each month. A shot of the menu is shown plus we learn how the UI in the rest of the game has changed. According to the developers, the UI systems have been “built from the ground up”.
This leads us until the health and crafting systems. These have been designed to be immersive and add an extra layer of detail.
Items can be dropped or thrown. An example shown in the video is the player tossing a pistol out of a car window and behind a trash container.
Another system that’s seen a gigantic change is housing. No matter where you are in San Andreas, you’ll be able to walk into houses. Crafting also allows for furniture.
Vehicles
Onto vehicles and every single one has been tweaked in a few ways. It ain’t just the vehicle’s looks that have gotten better. Handling and audio, which are very important for vehicles in games, have been heavily modified. There’s a big focus on realism. The train has also made a return.
New sewer
One interesting addition is an all new sewage system called Sewer City. Climb down a manhole and venture through this expansive underground world.
Release date
The Nopixel 4.0 trailer ends with its release date: Friday 15th December. It is displayed above names of the developers who made it possible. You can visit Nopixel’s website here.
You can watch the trailer in full below.
Take-Two Interactive recently mentioned plans to monetise GTA RP following the purchase of FiveM. CEO Strauss Zelnick said “We want to be where the consumer and what’s going on role playing is happening in two ways, People are playing role-playing servers but people are watching what they’re doing on Twitch. Actual number of people playing is a relative modest audience, it’s in the hundreds of thousands. But the people watching, that’s a huge audience.”
It will be interesting to see the synergy between GTA RP and Rockstar Games in the coming weeks and months.
