GTA 6 pre-orders on PS5 are outselling Xbox by 6-to-1. The report from IGN Deals comes at a time where retailers are warning it won’t be able to meet the demand for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles later this year. If you haven’t jumped to this generation yet, now may be the best time to do so.

In an interview with The Game Business a major retailer warned supply is not catching up with demand in regards to GTA 6 pre-orders. “We’ve been informed that because of the on-going issues around hardware component availability, we won’t be getting the units we want ahead of GTA 6. Demand will likely outstrip supply during the year-end period.’

It would indicate there are more people who currently want GTA 6, than there are available consoles on the market. Indicating record-breaking sales numbers, although those have not been disclosed yet by Take-Two Interactive.

The news comes a day after Xbox announces price hikes for their current generation console, making their cheapest offering, the Xbox Series S, cost $499. This price is equal to what the more powerful Xbox Series X launched at. Not only will consoles be harder to come by during the GTA 6 release period, but it will also be a whole lot more expensive.

Our own polling shows 70% will play on PS5

We’ve conducted our own polling on platform choice for GTA 6 over on X and the numbers seems to match the report figures. 50% of our voters say they will be playing GTA 6 on PS5, with 20% saying they will be playing the game on PS5 pro, adding up to a total of 70%. Roughly 24% plans to play the game on Xbox Series X, while only 5% of voters plan to play the game on the weakest console of the bunch, the Xbox Series S.
