GTA 6 has reportedly sold around a quarter of a billion in pre-orders alone so far according to a new report. It is also estimated Rockstar’s new title is on track for upwards of making $5 billion during its release week.
Reputable games industry analysis firm Newzoo (trusted by game publishers such as Take-Two Interactive has published a report into GTA VI’s pre-order numbers and used their data for launch sales projections.
GTA 6 Pre-Order Figures
According to the company, their data tells them that Grand Theft Auto 6 made around $180 million so far in digital pre-orders during its first week of going live. That number is only United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain pre-orders made on the XBOX and PlayStation stores in the last week of June. The disc-less boxes are not accounted for here. That makes it the biggest pre-order opening of all time in Newzoo’s dataset.
Using that data and GTA V’s global lifetime console player distribution, Newzoo work out that Grand Theft Auto VI has made around $260 million in its first week of pre-orders. That’s more than GTA V’s budget. Newzoo say approximately 69% of GTA V’s lifetime console players are in the 6 countries mentioned above.
GTA 6 Opening Week Sales Figures

Another figure Newzoo have come up with using their data is how much money it will make at the end of the game’s launch week in November. Based on the trajectory of pre-orders, GTA VI is on target to earn between $3.3 billion and $5.2 billion worldwide by November 26th.
The firm state it is looking at $4.5 billion by opening week with 51 million copies sold. The average price for those copies is set at $88 as some will buy the $80 standard edition whereas others will grab the $100 Ultimate Edition.
