Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has published another report on GTA 6. Over the past few years, the accomplished journalist shared accurate information about the game ahead of its reveal with trailer 1 last year. He correctly reported the game would feature a man and woman as the protagonists set in Vice City. Plus, he was also right about when the first GTA 6 trailer would release.
Since Trailer 1, Rockstar Games have remained tight-lipped and there has been nothing on the same level as a new trailer coming Mr Schreier. However, he has reiterated a few things and given new insights into the game’s development and what to expect.
Today’s article on Bloomberg states GTA VI has indeed missed a few deadlines for a release. We already knew this was likely the case given change in year when Take-Two (Rockstar Games’ parent company) expected to make around $8 Billion which is far, far more than they usually would.
Take-Two said the game is still projected to release in Fall 2025. That said, Jason Schreier reveals other game publishers are leaving it as long as they can to announce release dates to avoid GTA 6 if it does hit Fall 2025 or get delayed to 2026. It was reported earlier this year GTA 6 is falling behind schedule.
“They’re determined to keep their own games far, far away.”
GTA 6 Online
There’s also the obvious that will be part of GTA 6: a new version of GTA Online. The Bloomberg report claims GTA VI will indeed have a “significant online mode”. This new iteration of GTA Online will sell new content inside of the game just like GTA Online does to keep the game going for many years.
New Humour
As part of the latest report, Schreier reiterates Rockstar requested writers on GTA 6 to be more friendly towards minorities such as transgender people instead of them being at the butt of many jokes.
Development Time
Whilst fans have been waiting since 2013 for another entry into the Grand Theft Auto series, GTA 6 has not been in development 11 years. Schreier notes something we’ve heard as a community before, that it only really got underway when Red Dead Redemption 2 released in October 2018. He also previously reported it went through a reboot. The game’s codename is Project Americas, a reference to the game previously exploring various countries and not just the USA.

It appears 2024 will end before any more news or trailer for GTA 6 is revealed by Rockstar Games. Fans have quickly lost any hope they had left. One developer at Rockstar working on GTA VI did say they do laugh at some of the community’s theories. You can read about that here. Rockstar’s GTA 6 is also up for a Game Award this week for Most Anticipated Game.
