The most reputable insider when it comes to GTA 6 leaks has been Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier and in a new interview today he said he would be shocked if GTA 6 releases in 2025.
Known for being correct on many key GTA 6 details such as its setting, protagonists and when Trailer 1 would release, when Schreier speaks you listen. It was just yesterday he published an article on GTA 6 going over a few things. From reduction in crude humour to a new version of GTA Online, Jason went over things he has shared before with added details about the game’s release.
He mentioned that several large game publishers are leaving it as long as they can to announce release dates for their games to get out of GTA 6’s way if it does hit Fall 2025 or get delayed to 2026. Despite Rockstar Games’ parent company continuing to say GTA 6 is still on target for a Fall 2025 release, we’ve heard from Schreier yesterday the game has missed multiple deadlines already. Plus we heard stories earlier this year the game may slip to 2026.
This takes us to the latest comment from Mr Schreier. Speaking on the Kinda Funny Games Daily podcast, the journalist went over his comments from yesterday. When asked his thoughts on when GTA VI will release, the esteemed reporter said “Anything I say is gonna be aggregated all over the internet”. We’re talking about it here so he’s not wrong.
He did given an answer which will be doing the rounds online: “I would be shocked if it actually made it next year. I think it will probably slip again“. His reasoning is because Rockstar Games titles always get a public delay, not just the internal ones the game has already seen. GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 did exactly this.
“I would be shocked if it doesn’t slip to 2026 and hits Fall 2025”
That said, Jason brings up again Take-Two are still saying it is “on track” for Fall 2025. However, he cautioned and said we’ll see if that’s still the case in a few months. If GTA 6 does end up coming out in 2026, perhaps that is why there is still no trailer 2 for the game?
Whilst this is an opinion and not based on evidence, Jason knows a lot of about the industry and some of the inner workings and feelings of Rockstar. As 2024 comes to a close and no trailer 2 in sight, all we can do is wait.
