Fans think Rockstar Games may have just leaked a next-gen/current gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2. This comes after a few rumours from different locations that the game is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and even PS5 plus Xbox Series X|S this year.
To recap, we previously covered two different gaming outlets that claimed to have sources leaking Rockstar’s plans. Both of their separate sources state Rockstar are planning to release a Switch 2 port of the western at some point this year. It had already been rumoured by a few individuals earlier in 2025.
The two outlets also shared Rockstar are also working on a new update for Red Dead 2 which will take advantage of the current gen consoles. This is something fans have been begging for. Reliable insider Nate the Hate later corroborated a Switch 2 port and next-gen version are coming.
Rockstar Blunder?
This brings us to today. Spotted by Reddit user Livid-Army-5857, Rockstar had a section on their Red Dead Redemption 2 support page for “Online migration”. It was removed a few hours after it gained traction on Reddit. Below is a screenshot of what it looked like.

Online Migration was an option for GTA V when it was re-released on last gen, PC, current gen and the new PC Enhanced version. It lets players transfer their data over to a new version of the game. If this accidental leak by Rockstar is not a total mistake, it suggests this is not just a free update to the existing Red Dead 2 console version. It will actually be a dedicated port that will cost money much like GTA V’s current gen iteration.
What Could It Be?
Many fans are hopeful that Rockstar’s mistake here was pushing the online migration section too early, potentially months before release. They might have been preparing things for a new version of Red Dead 2 and this change went live unintentionally leaking it. It is possible this is the case.
However, it could also just have been a complete error. If there is no next-gen Red Dead Redemption 2 version, someone accidentally added the section by mistake. It is not abnormal for mistakes to occur on the new Rockstar Games support site. When it launched, there were a bunch of errors which were eventually cleaned up.
What do you think, mistake that is a leak or does it mean nothing at all? Let us know down in the comments section below.
