Much like every time when they do marketing, Rockstar Games have created a cultural moment. GTA 6’s anticipation is taking things to a new level though.
On Thursday, the company officially revealed GTA 6’s cover art and pre-order date. The cover art’s reveal led to many people and brands across social media posting their own version in response to it. Plenty of these went viral. Rockstar’s new logo also has had a similar effect with many in the GTA community changing their logo to look like it using the same background.
In an attempt to continue to stay within the conversation and distract, the US government’s White House social media account posted their own version of the GTA VI cover. It looks very AI generated and focuses on President Trump. Many on Twitter commented at how ironic this post is and that Rockstar wouldn’t be exactly thrilled considering their long history against government including the US.
We actually do have a very short non-statement from Rockstar. A Rockstar spokesperson provided a statement to Kotaku that said “No comment”. This could be interpreted in a couple of ways… In some cases when video game companies have have copyrighted work used by this administration, they’ve chosen to simply not even respond.
Following the cover image by the White House, US Department of Health & Human Services Secretary Kennedy posted an edited version of the cover reveal video Rockstar made. It came along with the caption “We flipped the food pyramid before we got GTA 6.” The cover of your ended up showing himself, Trump and a number of AI generated people dressed up as food.
It will be interesting to see how Rockstar decides to navigate this political landscape as we close in on the game’s release this November. No doubt things will get extremely heightened much closer to launch.

Think of it this way any attention is good attention just more free advertising for rockstar, a sign of success when everyone tries to jump on your band wagon. No comment is the perfect response.
