Rockstar Games have just established deeper Discord integration across a variety of their titles as spotted by community member Tez2. These range from ongoing titles such as GTA Online to back catalog classics such as Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire. We’ll be taking a look at what this means.
We learned from datamined information back in February that Rockstar were working on putting in Discord Rich Presence into their games. Tez2 spotted code in GTA Online and Rockstar Games Launcher updates showing this would be coming at some point.
At the time, the list of supported games were both GTA V versions, GTA Trilogy and both Red Dead titles. Now it has been released properly, more games are supported. More on that later.
What Discord Rich Presence Does For Rockstar Games
Discord Rich Presence allows game information to show on someone’s profile when they are playing a game. Without it, people can only see what game others are playing and for how long. Now Rockstar have enabled Discord Rich Presence, players can see more data and access new features.
For example, now you will be able to see how many people are in the game lobby for the person you have clicked on. You can also submit a request to join, join sessions etc all directly from Discord streamlining the process.
Which Rockstar Games Titles Are Discord Rich Presence Supported?
As mentioned briefly above, only 5 titles had some background support for Discord Rich Presence earlier this year. Now Rockstar have fully released it, more titles can work with it. Tez provided a list which can be found below:
- GTA V Legacy
- GTA V Enhanced
- GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Red Dead Redemption
- Max Payne 3
- L.A. Noire
How To Enable Discord Rich Presence In The Rockstar Games Launcher
Discord Rich Presence is enabled by default in the Rockstar Games Launcher. However, if you notice it is not working or want to disable it, or vice versa, you can do so using the steps provided by Rockstar Support below:
- Open the Rockstar Games Launcher
- Select the Settings tab in the Rockstar Games Launcher
- Under General, select Discord Rich Presence to toggle sharing on or off for supported Rockstar Games titles
Discord Rich Presence from Rockstar comes a few months after they made their own Discord server public which had a very chaotic start. Since then, the company have worked with Discord to offer free Discord Nitro subscriptions for watching the second GTA 6 trailer. Plus, offered a free Discord gift for GTA Online players. It will be interesting to see if they do more for GTA VI.
