Rockstar Games have just surprised many GTA 6 fans but not in the way they had hoped. It has been over a year since Rockstar Games last mentioned anything about GTA 6 so fans have naturally been waiting for something.
Instead, the company began a new channel of communication: their own Discord server. This development feels quite strange given Rockstar’s level of secrecy and lack of communication at times. That said, this will be a welcomed endeavour by the fans. It will be interesting to see if this means GTA 6 news is on the horizon or how Rockstar will take advantage of the platform.
A Surprise To Be Sure, But A Welcome One
The unexpected news was announced late on Wednesday via various fan sites which were told by Rockstar to link to their new server. Yes, this is official and ran by Rockstar Games themselves. In just about half an hour, it racked up over 12,000 members. All channels are a flurry of activity with fans expressing their excitement of the server’s existence and GTA VI.
This server offers fans to chat about all of Rockstar’s titles from GTA and Red Dead Redemption to classics. There is dedicated channel for Grand Theft Auto VI under the Latest and Upcoming category. You then can see a vast array of GTA Online channels from looking for groups to job sharing and more. Meanwhile Red Dead Online players can squad up and talk about their roles.

How To Join The Rockstar Games Discord Server
If you’d like to join the Rockstar Games Discord server, simply click the link here. Upon joining, you’ll be asked if you’d like to select roles that let you squad up with other players in GTA Online or Red Dead Online if you wish to do so. There’s also roles for events, giveaways, announcements and newswire posts.
Rockstar Aren’t New To Discord
This is not the first foray into Discord for Rockstar Games. Last August they teamed up with the chat platform to have an unlockable GTA V avatar decoration. Players simply had to play GTA Online on PC for 15 minutes to claim the item. You can learn more about that here.
Another more interesting communication change from Rockstar is that they started a WhatsApp channel back in 2024. They share the same posts from platforms like Twitter to fans directly in WhatsApp.
In other GTA 6 news, Rockstar’s parent company’s CEO teased a PC release at some point plus he shut down concerns of AI and violence. The game is still targeting a Fall 2025 release and that helped surge the stock price of Take-Two.
