Red Dead Redemption 2 and Undead Nightmare join new PlayStation Plus Subscription service Sony have confirmed in a new blog post today. Whether you’re yet to try out these 2 classics or wanting to jump back into the incredible world Rockstar Games created, now is a great time.
Announced in March, PlayStation Plus is becoming a 3-tiered system next month with a host of changes. One of these additions is a game catalogue spanning all the way back to the PS1 and now to the PS5. Whilst you’ll be able to download some of these games, some will be streaming only which includes a Rockstar Games title which we will get into as you read on.
Red Dead Redemption 2 joins PS+
Firstly, Red Dead Redemption 2 has been announced to be playable for all PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members. This means if you don’t already own Rockstar’s western masterpiece, you can download it on your PS5, PS4 or PS4 Pro for no extra cost.
On top of RDR2 being part of the new-look PlayStation Plus service, Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare will also be playable. PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers can stream PS3 games to their PlayStation 5, PC or PS4. This means you won’t have to download RDR Undead Nightmare but stream it over an internet connection. This version of Undead Nightmare is unchanged and the original PS3 version.
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare becomes playable on Cloud Gaming
Sony claim the list of games they have put out today is not even the full list of titles part of the refreshed PlayStation Plus and new games will be added regularly. Their blog post states “A monthly refresh will occur on the first Tuesday of the month for the PlayStation Plus Essential plan (and both higher tiers), with new PS4 and PS5 games added to the service – same as what PlayStation Plus members get today.” Perhaps we will see more Rockstar Games titles join the service in the future. If any Rockstar games do get added we will report on it so make sure you stay tuned to RockstarINTEL.
If you’re wondering when you can start your new PS+ membership, it will launch in just a week, starting with Asia on May 24th. Next up is Japan June 2nd. June 13th will see it reach North and South America. Last but not least PS+ updates on June 23rd in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Note: PlayStation.com will be updated with the game list when it launches in your region as this service does vary depending where you are located.
