Following their Free Online Multiplayer Weekend at the start of December, PlayStation have announced another free event for GTA Online. Where the previous removal of the PlayStation Plus requirement lasted just a couple of days, this event is far longer.
In a Tweet posted on December 15th via the official PlayStation Twitter account, the company state “Owners of GTA Online can play without PlayStation Plus until 00:00am Pacific on Dec 29”. This means anyone who owns GTA Online can play GTA Online without having an active PS+ Membership for the next two weeks. We did wish online multiplayer access on consoles became free forever much like PC.
Why is this happening?
This has been done because Rockstar Games and PlayStation have a close relationship and regularly offer this type of offer around the releases of new content updates. We can see from the Tweet referencing the latest GTA Online update: “Join the troupe and hang out at The Freakshop in GTA Online: Los Santos Drug Wars.”
It’s no surprise they want more players going online in southern San Andreas as the game has continued to sell very well and be downloaded a lot in the last few months on PlayStation.
They also included a cool screenshot from GTA Online: Los Santos Drug Wars.
The most wonderful time of year for no PS+
This is a great time to not need PlayStation Plus as there is a lot happening in GTA Online for the rest of the month. From a limited time free vehicle, a perk-filled month of GTA+, a busy event week, to a host of new features and content, it’s a fun time in GTA Online. There will also be the annual snowfall that covers Los Santos and Blaine County from Christmas to New Years. When there is any news and events happening in GTA Online, we will keep you updated so stay tuned to RockstarINTEL for everything GTAO.
