GTA V has placed highly despite strong competition from new releases in the first quarter of 2023. This information is coming from a report by Newzoo via gamesindustry.biz. They’ve revealed the PC, PlayStation/Xbox and Switch charts in the US and UK by revenue so far this year.
The first three months of this year has been some big games come out such as Hogwarts Legacy, Dead Space Remake, Resident Evil 4 Remake and more. Despite that, GTA V has maintained a solid placement even 9 and a half years after release.
GTA V’s chart positions
Whilst GTA V did not enter the top 10 PC games by gross revenue charts so far in 2023, it did make into the PlayStation and Xbox ones. GTA V is the 8th highest by revenue game in the United States of America. In the United Kingdom it reached an even higher 5th position.
Unfortunately for Rockstar no other titles in their portfolio made it into any of the charts for Q1 2023. It will be interesting to see if GTA V can keep this up in future quarters in 2023. So far this year the game received the second part of GTA Online Los Santos Drug Wars content. This was paired with a huge influx in PS5’s being able to be purchased in stores in the US and UK. It’s no surprise players picking up their next gen console also got yet another copy of GTA V to go with it.
