A new Red Dead Redemption 2 patch has been released by Rockstar Games following complaints of issues reported by the community. Despite no new major content updates in years, Rockstar Games are still committed to releasing patches that address critical issues with the game.
Rockstar Games also published patch notes for this update which was released on January 31st 2024. We’ll have the patch notes listed down below.
What issues have plagued Red Dead Online recently?
Over the past few weeks, members of the Red Dead Redemption 2 community have reported game crashes. Some of these game breaking crashes have been caused by hackers that roam the wild west in Red Dead Online. This is a serious problem and Rockstar have come in to fix it.
According to Rockstar Games insider Tez2, this patch “fixes the crash method cheaters abuse to cause the instant crash 5 minutes after loading in. There may be other crash methods cheaters could abuse to crash you.” So nope.”
These issues are limited to the PC version. Therefore, the patch is only downloadable on Steam, Epic Games Store and the Rockstar Games Launcher. Players on these platforms will have the patch downloaded when they next log into their platform of choice for Red Dead Redemption 2.
It is also worth noting Rockstar Games ended support for Windows 7/8 this week for all of their games including Red Dead Redemption 2. For more info, we have you covered here.
Patch Notes
Rockstar Support have released the short patch notes on their website.

Red Dead Event on the horizon
There are also just a few days left of the current Red Dead Online Event Month. We’ve got all of the content live at this time here for you but be on the lookout next week when we cover what will take place throughout the month in Red Dead Online.
Despite releasing over 5 years ago and no new content has been added in a few years either, Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to be a roaring success. It hit a new peak Steam concurrent player count at the end of last year whilst it won a Steam award in controversial fashion.
