Yet another new GTA Online exploit has been found and is being used on players. In this article we’ll be taking a look at what the exploit does and how to reduce the issue. Just another normal day in GTA Online, right?
What is the exploit?
This vulnerability allows a modders to place a bounty on you that’s worth $-99999999 on you. Although it does not actually place a proper bounty on you and is simply a notification that pops up as does any in GTA Online. The modder can also spam the message clogging up your game. To be clear, this is just a visual exploit for the PC version of the game.
It also has Lester calling your in-game phone saying you failed to complete a bounty you placed on another player even if you did not do that. That will get annoying fast too… Thankfully this is not as severe as the exploit that hit GTA Online in December last year.
How can you reduce the spam?
If this happens to you, don’t worry. The exploit is harmless to your GTA Online data. You can reduce how much spam you get by heading over to the pause menu, opening settings and the notifications submenu. Inside there you can change your Message Frequency to a different time frame, 1 hour being the longest.
This is only a temporary “fix” until Rockstar Games release a downloadable patch to truly sort it. A patch that you have to download can take Rockstar a few weeks to release due to the testing that needs to happen before we can use it. There is always a chance a server-side update can resolve this once and for all too. When Rockstar do make progress and fix the issue we will keep make you aware.
