The long-awaited GTA San Andreas VR port has been once again mentioned by Meta. However, their reply is not as hope filling as many have taken it as.
On Saturday, the company’s YouTube channel responded to a fan called internetpebble4731 who asked “meta do you have and idea if san andreas vr has a release date of has been cancelled”. The reply from the company was “Hey there! Indeed we don’t have a release date yet, but we’re working on it!”.
This sent fans into frenzy as this game has been in development since 2021 and there has been no real updates since the project’s announcement. Many social media posts were made in response to Meta’s comment.
However, in the past few hours Meta have removed their YouTube comment. This makes sense given that the employee running their social media channels would not have an insight into whether this game is actively being worked on or not. They likely were told to remove the comment given it is not an official statement and it started a wildfire of wonder and hope coming from the community.

During Meta Connect 2023, which took place in October last year, two VR news sites asked Meta about the then current status of GTA San Andreas VR. Meta replied to Road to VR with “We don’t have any updates to share on GTA: San Andreas.“ When asked by UploadVR, Meta said “no comment”.
Will GTA San Andreas VR show up at Meta Connect 2024 in September? I think most fans have given up and assume it will not. Stay tuned to RockstarINTEL for whenever Meta or Rockstar Games GTA San Andreas VR again. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date on the project.
