GTA V’s Franklin himself Shawn Fonteno aired out superstar streamer Kai Cenat on a podcast this week. The actor revealed the reason why he will never stream with the streamer of the year again. That said, some good news has come out of it.
Fonteno has made a couple of appearances on Kai’s streams leading to some legendary moments. This includes bringing on his cousin Young Maylay who played CJ in GTA San Andreas. The pair’s collaborations have always been fun and well loved by the GTA community. However, Not all is what it seemed.
During a recent episode of the Dope as Usual Podcast, Fonteno was asked about streaming with Kai. He went on to say that he won’t stream with Kai again for one specific reason. He revealed that during the 2024 Mafiathon 2 stream segment which took place in Fonteno’s neighbourhood, Kai promised a kid a motorbike. The family is not well off and Shawn believe the child would receive the bike. However, the child never got the bike and Shawn, who kept asking about it, was ignored by Kai and his team. “The downside of it was, that pissed me off… that said I’ll never do another stream with him again… I don’t give a f*ck how you feel about it.
If y’all go back and look at the the stream, these were a family that didn’t have much at all, bro. It was probably 15 people living in a one bedroom home. I know these people. I help them out at times. He [Kai] walked up to the kid, and he said “I’m a big fan of yours Kai”. Kai asked him what he wanted and the kid said “Can you get me a bike like a motorcycle?” He said he’s make it happen.
I persisted to keep calling after that, after we finished and we our night was over with and let about a week go by and text and text and try to call and text and hey man, you know, honor that with this kid, bro. It was just a bike… But you gave this kid that promise and now you’re making me look bad. I brought you here and you gave this kid that promise.
So, I brought it up to his people like Fanum [A GTA RP streamer], I said, “Hey, bro. Kai should get that bike for for this kid, man. It’ll just look good, bro, with him coming back with the bike and pull up and and get and gift this kid this bike. It’ll mean the world to the kid”. He just ignored me. His whole crew. It was like almost like culture vulture. Bro, you a f*cked up dude, bro, for that. To me, you’re a very f*cked up dude. I don’t give a f*ck how you feel about it.” If I make a promise, especially to a kid, bro, I’mma honor it.
I was like here you go [to the kids father] figure that out. And I never got a call back. I don’t have time for that. It hurt my heart. And then it made me upset with other streamers like this is how y’all are.”
Following the dispute going viral on social media last night, Fonteno cleared up the situation. He left a comment on the Dope as Usual Podcast Instagram clip saying “I just talked to kai and it was a honest mistake and it’s fixed Thanks @kaicenat”. Of course it’s great that the kid has gotten what he was promised eventually.
However, It should not have taken Shawn to have publicly said anything about it for it to get done. The whole ordeal has made Kai look bad After having such a positive image. Where many fans have criticised the streamer in the past hours, They have praised the actor for sticking to his principles and wanting to help others.
