Rockstar Games are still on a roll so far in 2025. They kicked the year off in style as GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 topped the most downloaded PlayStation game charts back in January. Now February’s chart data from PlayStation is in showing Rockstar’s titles still doing well during February which was a more quiet month for gaming and GTA Online in particular. We also have received an incredible and detailed look into the game sales of GTA V for 2024 which we’ll get into later on in the article.
GTA Online Ahead Of The March Update
PlayStation shared their monthly game charts on PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P games for February on Monday. During the last month, GTA V was the 5th most downloaded PS5 title in the USA and Canada. In Europe it was in 4th place. This is slightly down few places as it was in 2nd place across both regions in the prior month. It will be interesting to see if how it in the March charts following the Oscar Guzman Flies Again content. We’ll get the results early next month.
Let’s know take a look at both charts for PS4 now. In both the US/Canada and Europe charts last month it came in 8th position. However, it gained a couple spots reaching 6th in February.

Red Dead Redemption 2 On Top Yet Again
Red Dead Redemption 2 just cannot be stopped. For the third month in a row, it is the most downloaded PS4 title. This includes downloads to PS5 consoles as the game is not a PS5 title. In Europe it dropped one place from second to third.
This comes after Rockstar’s parent company revealed last month the game has now hit 70 million copies sold. It is now close to being the 6th best selling game of all time. This brings the total for the franchise to 95 million copies. The western also recently recorded an all time player count peak just shy of 100,000 on Steam alone. The Red Dead Online community have also re-launched the #SaveRedDeadOnline campaign.

Impressive And Detailed Data Revealed
An extremely detailed report offering exact sales numbers of games and more has been published. The report covers the entire of 2024 games data in the UK and includes GTA and Red Dead sales figures of course.
To start off with, GTA V was the 5th best selling game in the UK last year. It sold a total of 729,015 copies. There’s also a nice breakdown of physical and digital copies too. 83% of copies sold were digital (604,905) and physical was a measly 17% (124,110). Digital copies of GTA V on console made up the bulk of sales with 496,938 total units. PC sold 107,967 digital copies in comparison.
GTA Online’s standalone version for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S also made the top 20. It is completely digital so no disc copies can be counted. It sold 196,522 in total over the 12 months. If we only count digital sales, Standalone GTA V was the 9th best selling game digitally.
As for Red Dead Redemption, it came in 7th position after another strong year. The total sales were 348,574. The digital to physical share is even greater than GTA V as 89.3% of all copies sold were digital. That makes 311,317 digital copies with 37,257 discs sold. Console once again made up most of the digital sales with 232,434 whereas PC was 78,883.
